Training in the region
Our region has a group of members who have been trained to facilitate courses and information sessions. The president of the Committe is Barb Stewart, (598-2224 barb-stewart@sympatico.ca or barb.stewart@ccra-adrc.gc.ca). These facilitators are grass root members of our union who feel that the membership has a right to be informed of the issues affecting them. Therefore, they have made a commitment to provide training and information sessions of interest to the members of our union.
PSAC publications on health and safety
We offer a wide range of health and safety courses ranging from general courses to information modules on specific topics. These courses and modules last from 3 hours to 30 hours. The topics they cover include health and safety law, the role of committees, effects of chemicals on the body, stress, WHMIS, cancer, indoor air quality, ergonomics, and many others. Consult your PSAC education schedule for information on what courses are being offered.
We believe that it is important to get health and safety information out to as many members as possible. Therefore, if a local wants an information session to address a topic of concern to its members, we will do our best to do so. For more information on setting up a local information session, contact Dominic Lavoie or call the Gatineau Regional Office at (819) 777-4647.
We now have facilitators who can deliver this information in French. We urge members who would like this information delivered in French to watch the education schedule for the next course to be offered in French or to contact the Gatineau Regional Office at (819) 777-4647.
